• 2nd Etrian Odyssey 4 Promo Video Released

Today the second promotional video for the 3DS title Sekaiju no Meikyuu IV: Denshou no Kyojin was posted today. This new video shows off new features in Atlus' topographic JRPG such as air travel and non-static enemies. While this was once what separated the series from other Role Playing Games, foes and FOEs are now rendered in 3D to take advantage of what Nintendo has to offer. The latter are now visible on screen as beasts rather than floating orbs. Immersive? YES! Blocky? yes...

The new character classes were revealed to us as well. The artwork appears to be a tad more serious in color scheme, harking back to the first two games. One class, the Medic, even sees a return. The other playable classes are: Dancer, Nightseeker, Swordman, Fortress, Runemaster, and Sniper.

It is also interesting to note that there is a new difficulty setting called "Casual", that while once again departing from the previous formula of high difficulty allows gamers outside of the hardcore fanbase to enjoy the game.

      The second promo video.

Sekaiju no Meikyuu IV: Denshou no Kyojin will be released in Japan this summer on July 5th. The pre-order bonus will be the game's soundtrack.

Also available will be the Accessory Set pictured below.

No Western release date yet but seeing as Atlus has localized the past three games, it is likely that some news should be coming soon.

Here's the first promo video for good measure.

Fans of the series and JRPGs in general, what do you think? Is this breaking away from what the series stood for a positive, negative, or natural thing?
