• 343: Halo 2 Anniversary Edition Not Being Worked on at This Time

The recent rumors of a Halo 2 Anniversary Edition brought much excitement and now it brings on a great letdown. Last week, OXM UK reported that since 343 Industries are finishing up their work on Halo 4 ahead of time, they are also working on the development of Halo 2 Anniversary.

      Exact words requoted from CVG:

"Following the success of remake Halo Anniversary, 343 Industries has now started development of Halo 2 Anniversary."

While the rumor was greeted with the excitement of the idea of revisiting the series, we find out today that it is not the case. In an interview with The Halo Council, 343 Industries put the rumors to rest when asked, "With the great job 343 did with the HD remastering of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, is there a chance we will see Halo 2 HD before the end of this console generation? Maybe a Halo Trilogy pack to promote the new saga? Pretty please?"

      Their answer?

We are not working on that at this time. We are kind of busy.
Now, that's not a definite no for a future release. However, don't expect it any time soon. 343 Industries did also confirm a few other details about Halo 4 such as there will be no demo, there will be plenty of easter eggs and hidden goodies, and the multiplayer and campaign will have tie-ins.

Multiplayer and Campaign will be connected by sandbox ingredients, obviously, but also by Fiction. Some of these ties will be pretty light (especially as it relates to traditional MP) but some will be pretty deep and compelling (especially in Spartan Ops).
What are your feelings about 343's response to the Halo 2 rumor? I think we can all assume that it's inevitable some time.
