Some details and screenshots from the upcoming PSN survival horror game "Amy" were recently posted to the Playstation blog. The game, slated for release in late 2011, is a new project by Paul Cuisset, the creative mind behind the cult-classic 1992 PC game "Flashback."
"Amy" takes place in the year 2034 in a world that is wrecked by rampant natural disasters, disease, and global warming. Lana, the player character, wakes up after a violent comet impact in a town called Silver City. To her horror, she finds that the town is in shambles: most of the townspeople have been infected with a mysterious virus that has mutated them into hideous creatures that stalk the town streets. Lana notices the first symptoms of the infection taking hold upon her and knows that she must do anything to escape the town and find safety. Her only hope is a strange little girl named Amy who cannot talk, but seems completely unaffected by the virus. Amy also apparently possesses the ability to heal Lana and slow the process of the virus taking its effect on her.
The details given by the Playstation Blog are scant, but they mention some of the ways that the two characters can interact with each other. Keeping Amy safe seems to be your number one priority, and you can press the R1 button to hold her hand to guide her through the dangerous areas, and holding her hand also heals Lana. It also says that Amy is "naturally curious and will explore the environment with you." It's apparent that the game is trying to emphasize that Amy and Lana need each other to survive.
From the details given, it seems like "Amy" is going to resemble an "ICO" type game but in a survival horror setting, which could be interesting. If you want more details, check out the link to the Playstation Blog at the bottom of the article.
