If there is one thing that Japan has done that we haven't in the arcades, it is making a virtual card game. As many as you know, card games are pretty popular over in Japan, (and not because of Yu-Gi-Oh) and at some arcades, they have machines that actually can read your deck and allow you to use specific characters you want to use. In the case of Dragonball, here is a video that shows how it works. You don't need to know Japanese to know what they are taking about.
In the October issue of SHueisha's V Jump Magazine, it was announced that Namco Bandai games will be porting its 2010 arcade card game battle adventure to the 3DS next spring called, "Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission." Players will be able to use the touch stylus to create Five-Card formations on the bottom screen as the battle unfolds on the top screen. It will feature over 200 characters, over 800 cards, and a story mode that will allow players to follow and experience the Dragon Ball Story (or the same one we have grown acustomed to for the last couple of games).
Now the big question is that will we get to see a US release of this game?
...
Might not want to hold your breath on that one... Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission is set to come out in Japan in Spring 2013.
