Battle.net Hacked, Change of Password Recommended
The news is out- Battle.net has been hacked.
The online service that manages player information (among games like Diablo III, StarCraft II, and World of Warcraft) had a breach sometime this weekend. Law enforcement has teamed up with Blizzard for an investigation. Blizzard reassures its players that the information gained from the hack shouldn't be enough to allow the intruders to steal their accounts. Players will still be prompted to change their password, however. Information relating to security question answers and authenticators was taken, but credit card and payment info was not. While scrambled versions of passwords were obtained, Blizzard's Mike Morhaime
claims that the passwords would have to be deciphered individually. Players can simply avoid any grief by changing their passwords. The publisher is still looking into the matter. In case you read the two paragraphs above and haven't yet, go change your password!
