This piece of news certainly got my hopes up for one of my favorite games, Beyond Good & Evil. This was an overlooked gem that was available last generation for the PlayStation 2, XBOX, and GameCube. Today, however, we got some encouraging news about the status of the game's sequel, Beyond Good & Evil 2.
Lead developer Michel Ancel shed some light on the game's current point in development, saying that the game is still in production, but it won't be available for PlayStation 3 or XBOX 360. Beyond Good & Evil 2 will instead be releasing for the next generation of home game consoles.
Ancel added: "We are in an active creation stage and at this moment we are only focusing on the game and making it the best game that we can. I can say that it’s a very ambitious game and we need some tech to achieve that ambition. We focus on the game. We create it first, then we’ll see what can run it. We don’t say 2013 because we don’t know when it will come. We’re working to create a great game and it needs more tech."
We still don't know anything concrete regarding Sony and Microsoft's next console, nothing more than whispered rumors that is. We totally know about Nintendo's Wii U, however, and that the first game in the series was available for the GameCube. Perhaps there's a chance we can see it headed for the Wii U, though it may be awhile after its launch if the developers are taking their time with the game's development process. Still, I feel reassured that the game is making steady progress and for the advanced generation of gaming too. The time is definitely coming to go on another adventure with Jade and her uncle Pey'j.
By the way, do yourself a favor and play the first game. Beyond Good & Evil HD is available for download on PlayStation Network and XBOX Live.
