• Blizzard confirms Diablo 3 console version in development!!

A little less than 48 hours ago, Twitter user @TaNGoIX Tweeted this message to Bashiok, Blizzard Entertainment's Community Manager:

@Bashiok can you confirm or deny Diablo 3 coming to consoles? Thanks.
      Bashiok responded:
@TaNGoIX Yup. Josh Mosqueira is lead designer for the Diablo console project.
For those not in the know, Mosqueira is coming over from Relic Entertainment where he worked as a designer on the 2006 PC game Company of Heroes. As of 2011 on Metacritic, Company of Heros remains one of the highest rated RTS games and one of the highest rated strategy games with a score of 93 out of 100 based on 55 reviews, so you can see what kind of quality Mosqueira will bring to Diablo III.

Bashiok did not reveal which consoles it will appear on nor a release date, but rest assured that 8bitfix will be here with up to the minute information as it is released.

Yeah I remember seeing that picture being posted on the message boards I frequent. For those that don't get the context, here is a link to a post on the Diablo forums that explains it. My complaint as well as alot of disillusioned fans isn't so much about the graphical quality but the barren, sterile, almost cartoony art style that is being used for a game like fukken Diablo 3. It's enough to make me want to pass picking up this game at all.

        Terrible Graphics

Since PS3 has support for a mouse and keyboard I can easily see it being brought over to that console.

PC gamers always have something to bitch about and can never be satisfied with a quality game. If the game is not over-saturated with HD skins, it will be able to be played by a wider range of gamers, which is EXACTLY what Blizzard is after by porting it home consoles. The average neck-bearded console gamer is going to be a better customer for this game than the average basement dwelling PC gamer for the sole fact of the new auction house function that lets you use real money for virtual items. We are talking about BIG $$$ items, not "Free 2 play" microtransactions. The PC gamers $$$ is tied up in their system. The console gamer has more disposable cash and is better prey for Blizzard.

You obviously didn't read my post where I specifically stated that I as well as a whole bunch of other people were complaining about the art style and how it is too cartoony and not true to Diablo. Nowhere did I mention anything about the quality of the textures and such suffering cause consoles are holding us back. I can understand if you inferred that from clicking on that link I put up, but a majority of the time the context that those pics are used is about the art style and the aesthetic being an affront to the presentation that Diablo has established over the years. Diablo doesn't have to be constantly grim dark with dead rotting bodies everywhere and children crying for their mother in a war torn setting. But at least make some attempt to stay true to the core experience of Diablo. Which is descending into a dark lair filled with monsters who would love nothing better than to use your skin as a lampshade.

True to form, you had a Freudian slip and felt the need to defend your precious little gamebox like it was your own anus in a prison shower. You even went so far as to vilify PC gaymen (PC gaming lol) as something not worth Blizzards time because people who game on a PC have no money left over cause they put a mortgage down on their computer. Putting together a computer with really big muscle power can be done for as little as $800 and a good rig able to run games high to max is only $600. You don't have to buy all your parts at once for your PC if you are patient enough you can get them one at a time everytime you find a sale. Fact of the matter is that people who game on the PC do have the money to throw at cash shops and such.

Just because the people you are exploiting have money by no means justifies it. Your statement about the RMAH being a good thing for Blizzard is true. If I was a landlord and raised peoples rent without good reason of if I owned a business and drove up my prices cause my customers don't know any better that would be good for me too. In not mentioning how awful selling imaginary goods for big $$$ is means that you SUPPORT such a blatant form of swindling. Your response just reeks of pure fanboy. The sort of fanboy who would throw all their money at a faceless corporation and support any sort of decision they make no matter how bad. Like those stories you read about people who stay in abusive relationships.

First and foremost, have you actually played the and finished each dungeon in the game? How can you judge the art style of the entire game by a few screen shots?

Hmmm...so Diablo III isn't going to be a dungeon crawl against the forces of hell?

If you've ever, EVER bought any DLC for any game, PC, Xbox or PS3, you just invalidated your whole argument.

Pretty bold words from a guy who wrote a Masters Thesis length response to a 6 sentence comment. Sure Diablo III may look cartoonish to a small segment of people, but that is not a justifiable reason to think that the game is going to suck at all. As for it not staying true to Diablo's core experience, that comment holds no merit at all. I played a shit ton of Diablo III at Blizzcon, and it completely blows away Diablo I and II, and mind you that it was still an alpha release at that time in point.

Not just a few screenshots mind you but ten to 12 of them. Which I admit isnt enough for me to say the game sucks which is why I never said it will suck. I said that it might make me pass up on getting this game. Imagine if you are a huge fan of Doom. You loved how the shotgun sounded like it was the end of the world and the violent aggressive gamelplay/presentation. Years down the line they make a popular game that has a more cartoonish presentation. Then further in the future they make another Doom game but in order to appeal to the audience that is currently give them the most money they throw in spongebob characters and make everything more kiddy like. How would you feel? I exaggerate to make a point. What I am trying to say is that Diablo III just doesn't look like it would have that same atmosphere we all loved.

Hmmm...so Diablo III isn't going to be a dungeon crawl against the forces of hell?
Sorry by core experience I meant the atmosphere and the art style. I already discussed that in the comment above.

Your original argument is that PC gamers have no money cause their rig is so expensive. So that was the reason why I explained how a PC gaming rig is more affordable than you think and PC gaymers do have the dosh to throw at games. I was mainly offended by the implication that PC gamers are worth less of Blizzards time so I couldn't help but to retort with something just as mean but I took it a bit further cause I am an asshole who cant keep something he thinks is funny to himself. In all, I was implying I had doubts about this game cause of it's aesthetic. Since you cited firsthand experience about how great the game plays you have actually took me off the fence about getting this game and am now leaning towards buying it.

If you've ever, EVER bought any DLC for any game, PC, Xbox or PS3, you just invalidated your whole argument.
Now this is where you completely lost me. Last time I remember buying any DLC was for the fighting game Blazblue. The DLC I purchased was for new playable characters, none of that extra color swaps BS (I hope whoever pulls crap like this is forced to have their entire body painted with non removable skin paint in the same colors as their color swaps). So yeah, you can argue other companies do that too but charging for something as paltry as items is just pig disgusting greedy. Now let's say Blazblue starts charging for special moves, combos, and such. Let's also say that I could potentially find those moves and such on my own if I defeat some enemy who has a percentage of giving me that move but that same enemy is most likely being camped by a bunch of people who want that set of moves for themselves. The alternative is I pay out of pocket for it. For something that offers nothing new but making my numbers bigger as opposed to I don't know maybe a new character or some maps. To make it even more insulting they expect what you call big $$$ for those items. That's when it becomes pay to win and not play to win. Do you not see why this is bad?

Like about a year ago I read a comment from someone at Blizzard regarding Diablo III DLC. They said that their business model doesn't revolve around charging for DLC cause they don't feel it's fair. They are all about expansion packs cause they don't want to get money out of their customers unless they feel they offered enough content to their players. Now they are faced with the costs of maintaining the servers for a game with tons of traffic. Without an option to make customers pay monthly or release DLC cause it violates their principles you can effectively argue that this was the least damaging option for them to take. I just hope that Blizzard draws a fine line between recouping losses and ganking the hell out of their customers.

Honestly if I ever got this, I'd get it for PC, and I have been much more of a console gamer. For one...it would just feel better, more...at home, to me, on a PC. And for any multiplayer, I doubt I'd have any good friends to play it with. Not really wanting to get involved in a PC vs console argument, but even as a more console focused gamer, I agree with Judecca. I recently bought a new PC. The tower itself was around $500-$600, give or take tax. I was originally just going to add some memory and get a better graphics card for my old PC, but after I fought for hours with a rootkit virus and too many broken system files, I thought to hell with it. Sure, it cost me, but really it wasn't any more expensive than a new conosle + games to play + controllers and other accessories (and if you're an xbox gamer the gold subscription can be added to that as well). Simply purchasing games for my ps3, 360, and handhelds has cost me much more over than my PC ever has, and the thing is my PC isnt used only for gaming. In the end, I feel the whole cost argument kinda invalidates itself. Again...just my personal opinion.
