John Koller, SCEA vice president of marketing, told Engadget that the PS3 and PS Vita can easily offer something similar to that of the Wii-U's function. He said "It's not just about the functionality, however, it's about whether implementing that functionality makes any sense. It's dependent on the content. So we need to make sure the content isn't force fed. And, to us, making sure that the gamer receives the right type of experience is what's most important. So we're gonna pick our spots, but that technology does certainly exist here."
Media Molecule will soon release a patch for Little Big Planet 2 which allows you to use the PS Vita for cross control gameplay. I'm sure depending on the success of the Wii-U, we'll see Sony utilizing all their potential. Also since everyone has been saying that the PS Vita needs a price drop, why not bundle the PS3 and Vita to $349 to rival the Wii-U Deluxe?
Koller also mentioned that retailers have been asking for such a package and that there's a "high percentage" of Vita owners that currently own PS3's. Considering that you have to be at least 24 feet from the Wii-U console in order to receive "optimal performance". Sony's marketing team should be all over this because Sony does what Ninten don't.
