With Capcom's famed game series turning 25 years old, fans could not help and speculate what plans the company had in store for Megaman. Although what Capcom revealed might not please fans of the series.
Several different websites and forums began posting pictures of a new title in the Megaman series, Rockman XOver pronounced, Rockman Crossover. The information included amongst a few screenshots of the game, detailed that the title would see heroes and villains from all of the previous series, including Classic, X, Legends, Battle Network, and Zero. The new entry sounds like a dream come true for any fan of Capcom's mascot, but there are a few things that might turn fans away from the new release.
The upcoming "Social RPG" Rockman Xover is being released on Autumn 2012 in Japan for iOS systems. If the fact that the title is not being released on a major console or handheld is not enough, it seems that some pictures of the game show an "Auto Play" function which could potentially mean that the game is being made specifically to cater to more casual audiences, thus dropping the fun challenging gameplay the series has been known for. In the graphical department, the game is borrowing from the previous iOS remake for the original SNES title, Megaman X , which was not particularly well received.
With Legends 3 and Universe cancelled, the future looks bleak for Megaman. As of now, it looks like the Blue Bomber will not be receiving the same treatment Street Fighter did for its 25th anniversary.
