Club Nintendo has revealed what they will be giving out to their members who received Platinum and Gold status. The prizes this year are okay. I have to admit, I didn't really care for the buttons that were given out last year. For all the money that I put in for games for my household, I would've rather have seen a nice pin set, rather than button. Since buttons are much more cost effective, I see where Nintendo went with them over pins.
Anyway, on to the prizes. Those Elite members who have raked in at least 600 coins have their choice of one of two prizes. The first is a set of three posters: Zelda, Luigi, and Pitt. The posters are quite gorgeous and feature The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Kid Icarus: Uprising, and Luigi's Mansion 2. Or Elite members can opt to snag some Mario themed playing cards. I am not too fond of the cards, but that's just me. Infendo has shared that "both cards and posters have been offered before as standard prizes, however these seem to be quite an upgrade from the standard fare." I do not recall seeing the posters before, to be quite honest. I have ordered all the posters on Club Nintendo. While I do still have them all tubed until my game room is ready to display them, I can't say I remember seeing those particular designs. You tell me.
Those of you who have earned 300 coins to obtain Gold status can pick up a calendar. There is no image of the calendar, but you can replace the calendar on your wall that you received last year for Gold status. We'll have to wait for Club Nintendo to reveal the art work for the calendar.
A couple of years back, Club Nintendo offered Doc Louis's Punch Out!! We can expect to see a return of games this year with a new feature offered by Club Nintendo. You can skip the prizes altogether go for a digital downloads.
The downloads available are:
- Super Mario Kart
- The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask from the Wii Virtual Console
- Metroid II: Return of Samus from the 3DS Virtual Console
- Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again!
While you can only choose one download, the feature is a nice addition for those who do not care too much for the prizes.
The deadline to reach Platinum and Gold status was last month on the 30th. So, I hope you got those last minute codes entered and surveys done because anything done now will be for next year.
While I do love the posters, I would've liked to see something a little different. Why not give out some special giant AR Cards to use with our Nintendo 3DSs? Or even a set of regular sized AR cards that are only for those who reached Elite status? I love apparel, so I would love to see t-shirts, bags, and whatnot. I mean my wall can only hold so many posters. How about some figures or something of that nature?
