Starhawk is LightBox Interactive and Sony Santa Monica's spiritual successor to the PlayStation 3 online game Warhawk. For those of you who do not know this, I advise you very promptly find some way to punish yourself. This title, even though it did not put up amazing numbers, is a quality entry into Sony's growing number of great first party titles on PS3. Unlike Warhawk, Starhawk did have a single player campaign but it looks like Starhawk could be seeing a "cropped" release via a PSN release.
A screen capture of the Hong Kong PlayStation Store found on Neogaf lists a "Starhawk: Multiplayer Edition" coming out on September 26th. This could be great news as Starhawk multiplayer is undoubtedly where it's at. Considering the game regularly receives free balance updates and map packs, the support is still strong as ever. There's no word if this will come to the American PSN as well, but if it does I urge any person who enjoys a well crafted online multiplayer experience to pick it up.
The game recieved criticism due to a short and fairly contrived single player story mode, so it would make sense to make an online edition and pass those savings on to any player who may have doubts about just how amazing this multiplayer is. After all, I'm pretty sure anyone who cares about the story probably owns the game by now.
Anyone curious about how this game really stacks up can read my review here.
