• Creators of EVE Online: Tyrannis support Iceland in time of crisis

CCP Games, the company who brought you EVE Online: Tyrannis last month is "Inspired by Iceland". East of Reykjavik, Iceland the Eyjafjallajökull volcano started spurting out lava on March 27, 2010. Scientists warned Iceland of a second much larger volcano in Iceland is showing signs of eruption.

April 14, that second eruption came. As scientists proposed, it was nothing short of devastating. Not only did it cause major airline closures, but also massive flooding from the Eyjafjalla glacier, leading up to the evacuation of up to 800 people.

According to Press TV, on May 21, 2010, 4 earthquakes were detected in a 12 hour time period in near Katla after the eruption.

In efforts to assist with the country's image, the Icelandic government has created the Internet campaign, "Inspired by Iceland", containing safety reports, gorgeous pictures of Iceland and stories.

CCP games has joined the worldwide support for Iceland by creating this video. CCP's main headquarters is located in Iceland. In a pr email, they explain:

"It draws some interesting parallels between EVE Online and Iceland, like its perma-dark outer space backdrop, the similarity of EVE’s spaceships to the Vikings’ star-guided longboats, not to mention the volatile economies."
