  • Dragons Dogma Sales Destroy The Million Mark: Capcom Is Pleased

Capcom has its detractors. A group so vocal that the entirety of the publisher's board should be stone deaf by now. Whether fans are decrying the bizarre methods of delivery for their games downloadable content or reacting to the horror of character omissions in the company's unspoiled, stainless line of fighting game series, there never seems a shortage of opinions when it comes to Capcom. When scorned by gamers, the companies successes are largely overshadowed by disparaging water-cooler rhetoric. This overlooks the fact that Capcom is still one of the few developers who take risks. Asura's Wrath, Okami, God Hand, Killer 7, Lost Planet, Viewtiful Joe, P.N.03, Devil Kings, Dark Void, Dead Rising, and Steel Battalion are games with a potent signature other publishers would have passed on simply because of a fear of financial disappointment. The company still sees the value inherent in the seductive and fantastical ideas inside their coder's heads. The gaming community is a better place because of developers like Capcom.
So when new IP surpasses the million mark, video game enthusiasts should grab the ticker tape and confetti.

Dragon's Dogma has sold through 1.05 Million units! With numbers like that, a sequel is all but guaranteed. An impressive feat that further vindicates Capcom's strategy of formula and games of Russian Roulette.

It would be interesting to see how announcing the RE6 demo helped draw attention to the game. Most people I know pretty much had no clue about DD until they found out about RE6. Honestly though...the game is pretty interesting. Let's just hope they don't come out with a Dragon's Dogma Gold/Ultimate/Super edition next year.
