E3 2012 Hands-On Impressions: Assassin's Creed 3 Multiplayer
Well this will be the first mainline Assassin's Creed game to feature the multiplayer that was available in Brotherhood and Revelations. I actually went up to the demo expecting to play the single player campaign but was given the chance to try one of the game modes for the multiplayer of Assassin's Creed 3. We are all very familiar with how domination works in games like Call of Duty where there are 3 points where two teams fight to control all 3 points. This mode is available for Assassin's Creed 3 and it shows how much the series has progressed as a multiplayer game now.
In the snow me and my team were off to control the 3 points labeled as A, B and C much like other games. I went after point C first and was able to gain control of it as no opposing players were around at that time so I thought cool this will be easy. Well turns out if you control an area and an enemy approaches you his kill will overpower your stun. You see you can either stun players or kill them depending on your positioning. If you control a point an enemy can come and get the kill and your ability to stun will be nullified. That is not to say you don't have complete control over your area. You are still abel to blend in the crowd using L2 as a disguise or blend in naturally and hope no one sees you. You get more points depending on how many points you control and for what length of time. If an enemy is approaching a controlled zone you will know about it you just might not know who it is. Of course civilian kills count against you so you have to use your best judgement on who you are targeting. The game is all about stealth and blending in not to expose yourself too much and make it obvious you are on the other team. I had a very intense and enjoyable experience and can see this multiplayer being the bread and butter once the campaign is completed.
There is no doubt Assassin's Creed 3 will be a game that will blow us away. It's just a relief to know that after the campaign is said and done we have yet another feature that will continue to give us more game time out of it.
