• E3 2012: New Super Mario Bros. Wii U Screen Shots

New screen shots have emerged for the tentatively titled, Super Mario Bros. Wii U. The pictures capture the game's beautiful art style but also shows off more features for the Wii U controller, now reportedly called the Wii U GamePad. Nintendo also unveiled some exciting new features for Wii U at their pre-E3 show, one of which was "Miiverse".

Basically it's a universe where your unique Mii avatar can interact with other gamers close to you, very similar to the 3DS's StreetPass feature. In one of the pictures you'll notice a close up on the Wii U GamePad. While playing the new Super Mario Bros. game you can move across a world's hub and check out short messages from other gamers. Hints, comments, and suggestions from other players opens up all kinds of social gaming possibilities. It's a cool little feature. You'll notice that one of the Mii's has a banner above its head saying: "Cleared in under 100 seconds!". Could this be a subtle hint of Nintendo using some form of Achievements or Trophies? Maybe. Maybe not. Though I wouldn't mind that they use a feature like that.
