• Iwata tells share holders that Wii U is for core gamers too!

Iwata believes he is certain that the Wii U will attract a variety of gamers along with a massive amount of hardcore gamers. The Wii didn't do that exactly but Iwata is sure it's predecessor will. Iwata was asked during a recent shareholders meeting if "core gamers (will) accept Wii U", Iwata stated through his translator that, "Wii was not accepted by core gamers because they did not want to abandon their preferred control approach. Additionally, Wii did not use HD because HD cost performance at the time was low. Wii U makes it easier to use conventional controls. Also, the Wii U controller is not as big or heavy as it looks." So according to him new controllers and HD looks like their new approach, will this be enough to push Nintendo's new system?

I know they got some heat for the whole one Wii U controller per console thing, but it didn't bother me being the sole gamer at my house. Iwata is right though, the controller is not as big or heavy as it looks. So I am curious and excited what they could do with it: Batman's hacking tool, as seen in Arkham Asylum, Samus' scan visor, camera for Pokemon snap, dungeon maps for Zelda games. Whether or not the technical specs of the Wii U meet or surpass the PS3 and 360 doesn't really matter to me, but what I always appreciated about Nintendo is their innovation. They think outside the box. So the technology they introduced to us at E3 was refreshing, whether it holds your interest for a long time or short time remains to be seen but I am looking forward to it nontheless.
