Glory glory hallelujah! Just when I had lost all hope, a ray of sunshine cuts through the darkness in the form of... new AR cards for Kid Icarus: Uprising! Series 2 of these awesome AR cards will feature new weapons, characters and location cards. These new location cards boast extra functionality: as two AR idols duke it out on screen, adding the location card will show the characters battling in that environment!
Starting on August 3rd, this second wave of AR cards will begin to find their way into lucky hands via the Nintendo World Store events taking place every friday from 6-8 PM. Unless you live in the New York area however, this may be quite a long drive for a free pack of cards. Thankfully, Nintendo has confirmed these cards will eventually make their way to events at other retail stores, though no time frame is given for this yet. I'm sure Gamestop locations will get the chance to distribute some of these as they have in the past. Furthermore, anyone attending the Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle and New York Comic Con in... well, New York, will have the chance to snag some as well.
These cards are certainly one of the major selling points for this game as far as I am concerned and I made it a point to collect as many as I could. As you can imagine I was devastated to find the cards would not be making their way to the Club Nintendo rewards store like they did in other countries. Thankfully, the U.S. is getting a bit of relief as previously the only way to obtain cards was through purchasing various promotional tie-ins or attending conventions or rare Gamestop events. Hopefully this marks a turn around in the current drought for Uprising AR cards.
