Club Nintendo will give you double the coins if you pick up New Super Mario Bros. 2 via the Nintendo eShop. If you save Nintendo from having to print, package, and ship it out, they will give you 100 coins when you register the downloadable version from the Nintendo eShop. If you pick up the game at your local retailer and register it, you will still get 50 coins.
Not only will the extra 50 coins assist you in picking up some cool goodies, you are that much closer to reaching Elite status to get the "better" reward at the end of the year. Of course, if you are in the UK, you are getting awesome Mario Kart Trophy Replicas, while we in the United States get posters, playing cards, and calendars. Do I need to even get into how insanely livid that made me? I'm sure I don't have to even get into that. Nonetheless, you'll get 50 extra coins.
