Survival horror is dying. I will make that statement but not believe a word of it, as I think the genre's blood is as wonderfully contaminated as it has always been. Game series like Silent Hill, Fatal Frame, Resident Evil and Cursed Mountain pay enough homage and reverence to real horror than any horror movie made in the last 25 years. The premise of evil mansions, bewitched towns, and deranged serial killers have all been made into truly gruesome video games. You can take my word on this one: horror games are very dead and kicking on your home consoles. The announcement of Until Dawn only proves my point.Survival through the night hours...Can you do it? That is what Until Dawn looks to be asking. The title also appears to be wildly intoxicated on cheesy 80's teen horror films.
The game looks like it might serve a very entertaining weekend gaming session. In fact, if done correctly, it could be the most interesting take on the stale ghoul vs humans in a long while. Until Dawn will make full use of the Playstation Move, giving the peripheral another chance to really make its mark. No release info is available for the title as of yet.
