Earlier this summer the official Japanese website for God Eater Burst stated that they would release a DLC pack featuring costumes from the anime Puella Magi Madoka Magica. With this came rumors that Namco Bandai Games, responsible for publishing God Eater Burst, would be releasing a Madoka game for the PSP. It was later announced that the rumors were true and that Yusuke Tomizawa (of God Eater) and Yoshinao Doi (producer for Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Fate/Zero) would produce the game, Gen Urobuchi (also of Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Fate/Zero fame) would supervise in writing and scenario, and studio Shaft (producers of the Madoka anime) would take care of the game's animation. The original voice actresses from the anime were also said to provide vocals for the game.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica Portable will be a turn based dungeon crawler RPG set in the Madoka Magica world, but with a completely new story where witches act as dungeon bosses, and you can switch between characters but must keep your soul gem from becoming completely dark. It has also been said that Mami Tomoe will have "a new role".
But don't get ahead of yourself (bad pun), Puella Magi Madoka Magica Portable is scheduled to hit shelves in Japan next year on Thursday March 15, 2015. It will be released in two different editions: a standard edition for ¥6,480 (around $84 USD) and a limited edition for ¥11,990 (around $155 USD). While this is a bit more expensive, you do get your money's worth. The standard box comes with a bonus DVD and the limited box comes with a bonus Blu-Ray, Madoka Figma, Kyubei pouch, special card, and "HomuHomu" handkerchief.
