• Rumor: Could Sonic Adventure 3 be a Possibility?

Could we be seeing the signs of what the future may hold for Sonic the Hedgehog? More specifically, could SEGA's next Sonic game be the sequel that fans have been longing for since the days of the Dreamcast? I'm talking about Sonic Adventure 3.

Many URLs have been registered with the Sonic Adventure 3 name, including sonicadventure3.com, sonicadventure3.net, sonicadventure3.org, sonicadventure3.info, sonicadventure3.fr and sonicadventure3.eu. What we don't know is if SEGA is really behind this or not. LittleBigPlanet Karting Beta Code Contest Giveaway:

Ok, we've discussed what's been referred to as the "Sonic Cycle". To sum it up quick, the cycle implies that a new Sonic game is announced, our hopes go up, we see some gameplay, that excites us because we feel we won't be let down by the series again, we're introduced to a new character or feature of the game (werehog), our spirit dies a little inside but we remain hopeful, then the game releases and we feel betrayed, then the next "perfectly solid" Sonic game is announced and we get excited, rinse and repeat. I feel that cycle was broken starting with Sonic Colors, then Sonic Team continued that winning streak with Sonic Generations, but then took half a step back with Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II.

Now, Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 were two of the best Sonic games I've ever played. Everything right down to the graphics at the time of the Dreamcast era, the story, the gameplay, and oh man the music.

I'm not going to say that Sonic Adventure 3 will happen, but I will say that I think it's a possibility. Sonic Adventure was re-released in HD for PlayStation 3 and XBOX 360 and the official announcement of Sonic Adventure 2 heading to these consoles this October is a sign that SEGA might push towards developing the long awaited sequel. I mean, it's been over ten years since Sonic Adventure 2 first released. I seriously think they could go for it. The annual Sonic Boom convention concluded just a few weeks ago. Crush 40, who have provided great music for the series, including Sonic Heroes, are regular guests. Get them back to writing music for Sonic Adventure 3, come up with a good story, don't forget about chao gardens because those were a good addition (Wii U version of the game could involve you taking your chao on the go for walks around the house using the Wii U GamePad), don't introduce new characters (non-playable characters are an exception), no character mutations that involve the prefix "were", use the Hedgehog Engine used in Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Generations and you can have a good game on your hands.

Seriously SEGA, I think the world is ready for Sonic Adventure 3 as long as you have your mindset like you had it during the time of the first two Sonic Adventure games. Make an official announcement so I have an excuse to say "shut up and take my rings!"
