Masahiro Sakurai dropped some sad news to Kid Icarus fans. It appears that he has no plans to make another Kid Icarus game any time soon, much less a sequel to Uprising. It's a shame because the game did pretty well in sales, and was a great game all around. Project Sora did an exceptional job bringing the characters and the game to life after the series being in the dark for two decades. Kid Icarus may see a bright future once again, but Sakurai says that Project Sora wouldn't be involved.
"If by 'lasting universe' you mean to ask if there's a sequel, the answer is no," Sakurai said, "because we pushed a lot into the game in order to let people have this short yet deep experience, but the novelty of that would likely grow thin in the next game. For now, my thought is that perhaps we'll see someone else besides me make another Kid Icarus in another 25 years."
I for one wouldn't want to wait to see the next Kid Icarus game played by my grandkids. No, another game in the series is welcome to entertain us in the very near future. Hopefully the next adventure with Pit and Palutena comes soon rather than later.
