The countdown is over, Square Enix has announced The World Ends With You -Solo Remix- for both iPad and iPhone. This iOS remake of the original Nintendo DS game features a new combat system, redrawn art for the HD Retina display, new songs, and wireless connectivity. Since only one screen is available, you only control Neku in battles. You can summon your partner to attack by touching a pin in the upper right side of the screen. By attacking in tandem with your partner the synch gauge will increase and allow you to use a powerful fusion attack. It's an interesting way to keep the partner battling aspect of the original game alive.
Twitter intergration has been added, any friends that have TWEWY-SR- can be inserted into your game as NPC's and you can read their thoughts(tweets). Tin Pin Slammer is still included and can even be played against people with the DS copy of the game.
The coolest thing about this remake is it's already available to purchase for $17.99 on iPhone, and $19.99 on iPad. This may not have been the sequel most fans were expecting, but at least the wonderful world of TWEWY can reach a wider audience. Those zetta sons of digits at Square Enix are on thin ice now, if the next TWEWY game isn't a sequel...I'll drop the freaking moon.
