With Kid Icarus: Uprising finally on stores shelves and gracing our 3DSs, Super Smash Bros. creator, Masahiro Sakurai opens up a little more regarding one of the next heavily anticipated titles for the 3DS and Wii U, and that's of course, the next Super Smash Bros. game. With his worked finally wrapped up on Kid Icarus Sakurai's next project has a full spotlight for development now.
For the next game, Sakurai wishes not to just add more characters to the growing roster, or to add more stages to fight in. In addition to that he wants to give the gamers who own a 3DS and Wii U an ideal cross communication feature between the two consoles for the same game. Something original and exciting.
Sakurai: "there is a certain dead end we come to if we just expand the volume of the game. I intend to change direction a little as we go. The key to that's going to be its dual support for 3DS/Wii U. I'm really just getting started on this so it's going to take time, but I'll come up with something that uses that link as the game's central axis, so I hope you're looking forward to it."
I know I am. It may take awhile but I can wait patiently until it does get here. Not much has been known about the next Super Smash Bros. since it was announced last June at E3 2011, but hearing the game's current status from Sakurai himself should keep you assured that the project is making progress.
