This is rather interesting. Interesting, yes, but if you're waiting for Sony to officially announce a price drop on the Vita before deciding to pick one up, that day may be further down the road than you think. SCE Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida said that the price point for the Vita will not be changing within 2012 at all, saying that "it's too early."
However, what is peculiar is that he also mentioned that Sony engineers are working on "cost reduction." In a way they want to push Vita bundles that may spark the interest of gamers who they think would grow to like.
To capitalize on this, here's what Yoshida had to weigh in on concerning the Vita's price:
"At a certain point in the future we would like to address the pricing issue for some of the people who are waiting," Yoshida said. "But this year we are trying to add value by creating different types of bundles," like the LittleBigPlanet PS Vita bundle announced at Gamescom. "That's affordable for people who are looking for a good deal."
