As we mentioned last week, Wal-Mart was rumored to begin the price drop for the Nintendo 3DS today, rather than the Nation-wide date of August 12th. The speculation created by a source from Cheap Ass Gamers, came through today, as the price has been officially dropped to $169.99.
Some were saying that their Wal-Mart's were telling them that they could pre-order them now for that price, and then pick them up on the 12th. This made absolutely no sense. How can you pre-order something that is already out? I'm assuming they were just trying to create a stir by creating a hold, to ensure they get the sale.
Dropping the price early was a smart move for Wal-Mart, as they will make sure everyone goes there first. Why not? You will still qualify for the 20 free downloadable titles and take advantage of the lower price.
