Wayne Gretzky will be lending his likeness to a Nintendo Wii hockey game, EA Sports’ NHL Slapshot. According to SLAM! Sports, the player will be able to start with their character from the beginning to the Stanley Cup.
NHL Slapshot will also include a hockey stick attachment for the controller, which is something that everyone would expect. Most sports games on the Wii have some type of peripheral that is included, or even sold seperately, for that matter, that will make the game feel more realistic. NHL Slapshot's hockey stick controller attachment will be included in the game and it is said to "allow players to shoot, pass, stick-handle and check with an unrivalled degree of realism"
The attachment is going to be a 53 cm-long that will include three easy-to-assemble pieces. We've all heard those stories of broken household items and injuries that come along with the Wii peripherals, EA added a dense foam blade on the end to help avoid those hazardous situations.
What does Wayne Gretzky have to say about the game? Well, he's already gave it a try and had an interview with QMI during his photoshoot.
“I’ve had a chance to play it, and it’s one of the more realistic games I’ve seen in a long time.”
“I think that’s the infatuation for people — this dream of playing in the NHL, and not everybody gets to live that dream. So when you can participate in something like this, it’s so realistic. I think that’s what people like most about it.”
