Wii U Pre-Orders Running Out!

It seems as though the Wii U is going to be this holiday season's hottest gift item. Retailers are starting to run out of pre-orders for the next-gen console two months before its release. Where does this leave the parents wanting to get their kid exactly what they want this holiday? Why, to Ebay of course!

As of writing this article, Ebay prices for the upcoming addition to the Nintendo family can easily range from $500 to $800+. As ridiculous as these prices may sound, there will definitely be people willing to pay these prices just to guarantee them the Wii U for themselves at launch or as a gift this holiday. You can always search on Craigslist but then you run the risk of getting stabbed or worse, without a Wii U.

Taun called me the day that the price of the Wii-U was announced and said, I'm going to pre-purchase it ok. I was like sure and I kid you not, 2 days later GameStop announced they weren't taking pre-orders. I honestly don't think this system is going to be successful.

First I can't see this appealing to the casual market since it will be the most expensive console out, while back in the day the Wii was the cheapest one out there.

Also why in the world would kids pay $60 bucks for Batman AC, Ninja Gaiden 3 and Mass Effect 3 when you can get both for $20 a piece?

Last thing is that Nintendo burned so many kids and hardcore gamers with the Wii. There are still fanboys out there, but I'm talking the kids that ended up with a Wii and stopped playing it because all the good games were on Xbox and PS3.

All this that we're seeing about the Wii-U selling out is marketing if anyone knows how to work the media, it's Nintendo. Don't believe the hype, it will only sell to Nintendo fanboys until they have a price drop or release the Wii-Uxl with more than a 25ft range and a robot that works like Kinect.

I do want to get my hands on the Wii U, but at the same time, I want to get a new handheld gaming system too...

hmm... I think I'll buy my time for the moment once the Wii U comes out and once the library expands a bit more, I'll use that time to move up. The Wii U is going to be interesting, but I don't have a sudden need to get it at the moment.
