WipEout fans: prepare to do the Jersey fist pump like never before. WipEout 2048 DLC hit the PSN yesterday in a big way. WipEout HD, based off the ships and tracks from the PSP classic WipEout: Pure, and WipEout HD Fury are each getting the Vita once-over.
The "WipEout 2048: WipEout HD Add-On Pack" contains 12 of the PS3 title's tracks and 12 ships, one from each major company each with four paint schemes. The "WipEout 2048 WipEout HD Fury Add-On Pack" contains 12 Fury tracks, the original 12 ships plus 12 Fury ships with Fury's tweaked stats and 3 paint schemes each. Both packs also include a full trophy set, full single player campaigns from their respective games, crossplay multiplayer access to the add-on tracks, and reverse versions of the tracks as well! Add 'em up and thats a total of 24 tracks, 24 ships, 2 single player campaigns, 12 reverse tracks, 4 zone mode tracks and crossplay multiplayer access to 24 new tracks!
How much will these awesome add-ons run you, you ask? Well each pack will be $7.99, and a bundle containing both packs will be a discounted $12.99. Hold up though, here's some good news for all you die-hard WipEout fans: anyone who has purchased WipEout HD and/or WipEout HD Fury will get the respective 2048 DLC for free! This includes anyone who got the games for free as part of the Welcome Back campaign! Additionally, Studio Liverpool has stated in a PlayStation Blog post anyone who purchases the 2048 DLC gets the PS3 downloads for free as well!
This is compounded awesome made better by the fact all these extra ships mean we finally get a Qirex that doesn't suck!
