Vita owners, pay attention! One title I have been looking forward to is the gorgeous Ragnarok Odyssey from Game Arts (Grandia, Lunar) and XSEED Games. This game is loosely based on the Ragnarok franchise but that's not what drew me in. This game utilizes the capabilties of the Vita to display, in amazing detail, a lush monster-filled world in which you can work together with other players (local or online) to take down giants. Every screen I've seen has been beautiful and the combat looks intense. The game even boasts six diverse job classes and enough character personalization options to make 20,000 possible looks. Sound good? Well, it's about to sound a whole lot better.
A PR email from XSEED reveals that along with the regular edition of the game, XSEED is releasing a "Mercenary Edition" of the game which includes some very "lootable" items!

The Mercenary Edition comes with a soundtrack CD, a "Mercenary Guide" that features some strategies as well as the game's gorgeous artwork, and a pack of 10 random "Monster Cards" which are a physical representation of collectible items within the game! This is more than enough to spice up the otherwise dry collection of Vita titles in our region, none of them having quite this much collectability.
How much can you expect to shell out for something like this? Well, the regular version of this game will retail for $39.99 when it hits retailers this October, but the Mercenary Edition will only cost you $10 more. That's $49.99 for those of you who don't feel like doing the math! So whether you are a fan of Ragnarok, looking for a great cooperative RPG experience on the Vita, or just a sucker for collector's editions, the Ragnarok Odyssey Mercenary Edition should definitely be on your radar!
