The main assumption being that, if you are a girl you suck at video games (or anything boy related for that matter). I know this issue has been discussed at length over the years, and maybe some of you feel like we are beating a dead horse, but just hop on a vent channel (WoW), or play anything online and inevitably a female voice will echo through your television and (after a palpable moment of tension because you know what's coming) the verbal assault/bashing begins with people claiming the game is over, asking them if they are attractive, assuming they are ugly *sarcasm* because pretty girls don't play video games *end of sarcasm* and just giving them hell for not being a dude. I for one was never a fan of sausage parties and happily welcome femininity in my gaming experience, plus the IQ level of the conversation rises quite a bit with a woman on board (not that women can't talk some mean trash), but i hate thinking that there are female gamers who are silent/hide this little fact that shouldn't matter at all and has no effect whatsoever on their gaming abilities. I don't see the issue going away anytime soon, but i can dream of a day where i don't feel embarrassed by the other members of my sex because they are ignorant and stupid; and they feel free to show how ignorant/stupid they are. A day when standing up for another player won't get me bashed as well for "white knighting" or be called a homosexual for not joining in misogyny...

Anyway, all this came up because i was perusing another gaming site (BLASPHEMY! sorry) and there was this awesome article and i wanted to share it with you all. I believe 8-bit has a higher than average female to male gamer ratio. anyway, the link is below.

I also played the trial version of Guardian Heroes on XBLA with a friend last night. Was really fun. The dialogue and character faces are comically bad to the point of being enjoyable. It's a beat em up with a good dose of combo strings that has lots of mayhem going on all at once. A blast to play with friends. As much as I dislike linking a review vid from IGN, it doesn't mean that all of their stuff misses the mark.

Has a publisher/developer ruined your favorite franchise? Ever been so furious that you put together a shit list and added EA, Capcom, etc to your list of sworn enemies? Have you fantasized about force feeding refuse to those enemies?

Then tell us all about it. Think of this as a place to spew that acidic vitriol you have been keeping tucked away deep amidst a pool of bile. Let it all out bro.

Will you get called out on it? Maybe. But so what? As long as we can all make a good discussion out of it and not viciously insult each other that's fine.

I believe it's ok to insult a persons line of reasoning as long as you don't use petty ad hominem. For example "I hate the new Resident Evil 6. Why bother calling it Resident Evil if it doesn't implement a style of gameplay where you are forced to carefully ration your supplies. You know, survival horror lol" If you respond with "Lol you only say that cause you older gamer types can't evolve" Typically that would be considered insulting in a way. But it isn't really, if you consider that insulting that's cause you have a tender posterior that is prone to butthurt. You can attack the tone, the line of reasoning, but not the poster directly.

Now if you responded with "Then stop playing video games you man child. Companies like that stopped making stuff for older gamers cause those gamers already moved out of their mom's basement and got a job" As an asshole I consider that funny but it's insulting. Obviously what comments you say depends on how well you know the poster and how prone to butthurt they are. Think of it like playing tackle football. You want to knock the other guy down flat but you don't really want to injure him right?

While it is a very popular game over seas, this does lead to one big problem... WHAT ABOUT THE REST OF THE WORLD!?! I am a huge Dynasty warriors fan, and I admit I bought Bleach: Soul Resurrection, in spite of the fact that I don't have a PS3. For some reason in the US, one piece hasn't held up as well as other animes, and while I can blame 4kids in destroying its good name, this is one game I would love to see make it to the US.

It's an RPG done in the style of the old Breath of Fire games and other similar RPGs. It's only available on PC but you can run it on Mac if you use some sort of software called boot camp or anything else similar. If you use those Asian warlock crystal balls like ecchisketch then using your Mandarin sorcery to run it should be a cinch.

The 3G Vita comes with an 8gig memory card ($29.99) 1 mth of At&t 3G service and a free game on PSN. That alone is worth it to me.

Also I want the 3G one so that I can use Near everywhere and keep in touch with my PSN friends. I'm hoping that if the Vita can do everything that my iPhone can, I'll dump it.

This life-size Storm Trooper cake was made by Oak Leaf Cakes for the Arisia Science Fiction Convention in Boston. It stands 6'4" tall and is made out of cake, icing, and Rice Krispies.

Serving about 600 people, you can actually buy one, too! Okay okay, it comes with a hefty price tag of $9,000.

Since I won't be dishing out that kind of money for a cake anytime soon, I thought I'd share some images with you. Would love to see a Taun Taun cake though!
