About Us

What's with the name, 8bitfix? Well, some of us started from the Atari, as our first gaming console. After playing the Atari, do you remember the first time your eyes were blessed with the beautiful pixels of Mario? *heavenly sounds in the background* Yup, I believe we all remember that moment. Ever since, something special was instilled in us. So the term "8bitfix" is taking gaming back to the roots.

8bitfix.com is a community that spawned out of pure passion. The site was created on May 26, 2008 by Tanya Valdez, aka Beatboxtaun. The mission of the site was to give gamers a chance to know just who their gaming with and meet up with others who share their passion.

Some of the best friendships we have established is due to this site. 8bitfix has allowed us to meet fellow gamers who love gaming, just as much as ourselves. It has made for an even better online gaming experience when we get together and game with our 8bitfix friends.

Being based out of EL Paso, TX, we have not only been able to meet many local members, but also a few of our members around the world. We have also attended some of the worlds largest video game conventions.

Gaming is in our blood and we will continue to share it with the world.

Tanya Valdez (aka Beatboxtaun)

I am a frequent contributor here at 8bitfix.com. I have a passion for video games that goes beyond consoles and into writing and crafting. I have created many video game related crafts, such as the Punch Out and Mega Man scarf. I love to incorporate two of my favorite passions to something that I can wear or display in my home. Writing is another passion that I am able to mix with gaming. I have attended and have been invited to the largest video game conventions in the world.

I am a very opinionated, yet an open-minded gamer. I own just about every video game console released and I am a huge gaming collector, from towels, to mirrors, to shot glasses, and yes Gears of Wars shoes. I love gathering news, helping out with the site and the podcasts, making predictions, and watching the industry evolve for better or worse. I will now wait patiently for Nintendo, to once again, save the day and take us out of this slump! My place in the video game industry is to keep gaming viewed in its art form.
